Secrets of the Savoy

This work reveals the secrets of the former Duchy of Savoy. From the perspective of the merged villages of La Motte-Servolex, the composition has a slow and almost magical opening to describe their magnificent mountain location. The vastness of the Alps is echoed in the lyrical theme, which, strengthened by a lingering pop rhythm, dynamically reaches a climax.

This is followed by a quicker, march-like part that represents the mountains in all their grandeur and, looking back, recounts the castle life of yesteryear as ancient dance music. The slow middle section takes us back to the surrounding mountains: the massifs of Épine and Mont du Chat, Bourget-du-Lac to the north and, far away, the Jura mountains to the northeast.

The romantic music sounds almost religious and quietly builds up to a mountain top with a euphoria-inducing view. After a return of the faster theme, the composition turns into a blissful closing theme that leaves the listener grateful: beautiful Savoy has musically given up its secrets.
