Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is without a doubt the most famous and legendary tower in the world. The main motif in this composition is based on the sound and pitch of the 3 bells of the Tower of Pisa. This returns again and again in different forms in the work, right from the beginning where it is alternated with the religious sounds from the Duomo Santa Maria Assunta. This changes into the secular, a popular theme that expresses the inhabitants of the city and the province. 

Then we hear the tower tilting due to a downward motif, followed by a lyrical melody that sings about the city from its most beautiful aspects. Then we hear the bell motif again, followed by a soft passage in which the inhabitants who died of the plague over time are commemorated. Then there is a procession of wind orchestras that march from the province to the leaning tower of Pisa, after which the work concludes with the bell motif in an exuberant setting.
