Pavane

The pavane is an old Italian-Spanish court dance and sounds slow and stately. The dignified, striding dance form of the pavane suited the new, somewhat austere manners of 16th-century court life. Jacob de Haan wrote this work in the context of the Hanseatic Days that took place in Deventer and Zutphen in 1990. The medieval city of Kampen is central to this pavane.
