Pastorale Symphonique

Pastorale Symphonique is a concert piece that focuses on one specific contemporary issue: the negative influence that humans have on mother nature. The piece contains two main themes. The first was created to symbolize unspoiled nature: the Pastoral. An interesting feature of this theme is the fact that it is derived from one of J.S. Bach’s “Inventions” in the backward form.

The second theme is a contrasting reflection of the negative impact humans have had on nature over the years. A constant switching back and forth between the themes, endless underlying tension that gradually develops into a fatal funeral march. Here nature is buried on the theme of the pastoral: The Pastoral is over.
