In Memoriam is a reflective composition that serves as a tribute to lost loved ones. Jacob de Haan crafted this piece to evoke a sense of remembrance and mourning, yet it also carries an undercurrent of hope and solace. Jacob de Haan: ” The beginning, which returns later in the work, is somewhat inspired by the aria “Morrò, ma prima in grazia” from Verdi’s opera “Un Ballo in Machera”. In the somewhat faster middle section, we hear an echo from the past, the positive memories of a human life”.
