Everest

Everest is the name of a restaurant that was located on the 40th floor of a skyscraper in Chicago. During the Midwest Clinic of 2003, Jacob de Haan had dinner there, together with his publishers and a number of colleague-composers. The spontaneous idea arose to compose a march with the name Everest as homage to the excellent cuisine, the magnificent view of the skyline, and the very pleasant atmosphere in this restaurant. Jacob de Haan suited the action to the word; and he dedicates the march to the chef, Jean Joho.
