Besinnung

“Besinnung” (Reflection) is a poem by Hermann Hesse (1877 – 1962), set to music by Jacob de Haan for mezzo soprano and wind orchestra. In romantic sounds, in the spirit of Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner, the composer interpets this magnificent, profound self-reflection by Hesse.

Jacob de Haan set another poem of Hermann Hesse to music. This composition is called “Stufen”.  You can perform both poems very well in a concert.
